forty-two years have gone by and 170 countries have joined in to celebrate what we now know as earth day, yet today our planet is in more peril than ever. this is why it is more important than ever to make earth day every day. while climate change is the greatest challenge of our time, it also presents the greatest opportunity. take charge now and celebrate today by making a commitment to make your life more environmentally friendly. find out how here.

reduce . reuse . recycle

in honor of earth day i'm sharing a few of my favorite eco friendly companies. these are companies that not only offer amazing eco friendly products, they go above and beyond to give back to the environment.

origins is a high-performance natural skin care company that uses potent plants, organic ingredients, and 100% natural essential oils in their products. their mission is for a long-standing commitment to protect the planet, it's resources, and all those who populate it by committing to using purely earth and animal friendly practices.

*today only bring in any empty cosmetic container to sephora for recycling and receive a full-size origins 'starting over' or 'a perfect world' moisturizer (while supplies last)

HippyTree is a california based nature inspired surf and outdoor apparel company. HippyTree's rugged apparel designs and hand drawn graphics featuring waves, mountains and wildlife reflect the company's passion for surfing and the outdoors. marked by the 'green tree' logo, HippyTree is committed to softening it's environmental impact by using eco-friendly materials and manufacturing.

*a variety of HippyTree products come packaged with hangtags that contain seeds. the premise behind putting seeds in their hangtags is to get people to grow something. and as if they weren't already cool enough... if you successfully grow a plant from the seeds they give you and send them a picture, they send you a free HippyTree shirt.

ipanema is a brazilian brand that uses patented pvc plastic to make affordable uber stylish vegan friendly, 100% percent recyclable sandals. 99% of any 'waste' from their production process is recycled, this means there is virtually no waste!
